Harley-Davidson moving production of Tri Glide® and Street Glide® trikes

As most of you may know, Harley-Davidson Tri Glide® and Street Glide® trikes have been built and assembled in conjunction with Lehman Trikes Inc.  But now, Harley-Davidson stated January 15, 2010 that the Tri Glide® and Street Glide® trikes production will be performed in-house and relocated to the motor company’s Springettsbury Township plant in the summer of 2010 and begin manufacturing the 2011 model year then.

“The restructuring of Harley-Davidson’s York operations provides the opportunity for us to build trikes in-house and streamline trike assembly and distribution,” said Julie Chichlowski, Harley-Davidson’s trike platform director. “Lehman Trikes has been a responsive, high-quality supplier to Harley-Davidson for trikes and it has been a pleasure to work with them.”

Please note that the motor company’s scheduled move away from Lehman Trikes will not result in more jobs at the York plant per Harley-Davidson communications director.  Harley-Davidson dealers that sell the original equipment Tri Glide® and Street Glide® trikes are the only original equipment trikes sold through authorized dealers carrying a full Harley-Davidson warranty.
